This is close to the house and a bit fancy. The dining room usually is full of vacationing families out on the terrace. Although pricey, the food is excellent and worth it. If you don't have a reservation, 4 people can eat comfortably at a high top table in the bar and the bar staff are very friendly and helpful. Specialty drinks, the works.

Best place for oysters, clams and other seafood. Fun and noisy with a galvanized bucket built into the table for the shells. See how much of a bang you can make when you hit the bucket with an oyster shell. Good beer too.

This is the place to go after dinner with the kids for that must have beach experience of cool ice cream on a warm muggy evening with the mild sunburn to remind you that you are finally at the beach.

Parks & Nature
Sea turtles are highly valued and protected on this island and turtle nests are visible up and down the beach. If you are lucky you might meet a turtle going up or down the beach to lay her eggs and return to the ocean. A hatching is a big event too and you can watch (but you can't touch the turtle hatchlings). Consult with the museum about volunteering and nest hatch dates. The nests are marked and you definitely do not want to disturb the nests. Thursday is the worst day to go since everyone seems to want to go on Thursday. Saturday is actually the best day since everyone is coming and going that day.

Entertainment & Activities
The fishing pier doesn't just have to be for fishing. A family favorite at night after dinner would be to walk out on the pier and see what people are catching. Feeling the ocean breeze and being out on the ocean is a great experience. Buy a week long pass for the week you are there. We will provide a couple season passes if they are available. It is over a mile down and back so walk if you are motivated, or drive down and take the kids out for sights and sounds they will remember for a lifetime. Watching someone catch a shark, King mackerel or a large sting ray is an unforgettable experience.
