Same offerings (great coffee etc) as the one in Liguanea but with great mountain views, and some of the best Jamaican cooked food sold next door at Crystal Edge Restaurant. About 45 mins into the hills from Kingston but well worth the visit.

This is the Jamaican answer to fast food- jerk chicken, fried ripe plaintain, stewed peas etc. Its cheap, and I highly recommend the "Yard Style" sandwich with chicken and plaintain. So good. They have a good veggie stew peas for vegetarians too. There's one in the food court of Sovereign, just down the hill at the intersection of Barbican Road and Hope Road.

Ignore that address, it couldn't find the place I was referring to. New Leaf Vegetarian is in the Lane Plaza at the foot of the hill on the left. Good vegetarian food, the salad plates and burgers are my favourite. Not a sit-down spot but perfect for takeout lunch.

Italian and Lebanese food, medium price range (10 to 20usd). I especially like the kabab plate, which comes with hummus/baba ganoush, pita bread and a chicken/beef kabab.

Best ice cream in the world, even National Geographic named it in the top 10. Also an important cultural site in Jamaican history, the mansion and land the ice cream shop is located on are a nineteenth century mansion. The first built by a black Jamaican.

A bit on the pricey side and fancy-ish but they have good parties and are nice for an afterwork drink. Located on a rooftop right by East Japanese on Lady Musgrave.

Premier event for reggae lovers in Kingston. Its a beautiful outdoor venue, up in the hills on a balcony overlooking all Kingston. The best reggae and dub tunes all night from one of Jamaica's best known deejays- Gabre Selassie. Head there to see the local music community out in full force, get drinks (natural juices and alcoholic), or have a meal- they serve great vege wraps. Careful if you have asthma though, lots of ganja smoke up there.
