Lough Tay is, along with Glendalough, one of the most photographed location in Wicklow. The stunning scenery of the Lake surrounded by the mountains makes it one of the most iconic location in Ireland. Lough Tay is fed by the Cloghoge River and then drains into Lough Dan, located to the south. The beach on the northern side is bright white sand. It was imported by the Guinness family who’s estate runs through part of the Lough Tay area. The shape of the lake with the with the white sand at the top makes it look like a Pint of Guinness! The best viewing point to see Lough Tay is along the Military Road above, at the junction with the Wicklow Way.

The obvious track leads you up onto a shoulder where the track turns right with loose rock underfoot. A steep climb brings you to the summit. Return the same route. Grade: Easy Distance: 2.5km Estimated time: 1hr Total height climbed: 200m Highest point: 500m Terrain underfoot: Mountain track Suitable for: families and adults.

The Phoenix Park is the largest enclosed public park in any capital city in Europe. It was originally formed as a royal hunting Park in the 1660s and opened to the public in 1747. A large herd of fallow deer still remain to this day. The Park is also home to the Zoological Gardens, Áras an Uachtaráin, and Victorian flower gardens. The Phoenix Park is only a mile and a half from O’Connell Street. Both passive and active recreational pursuits may be viewed or pursued such as walking, running, polo, cricket, hurling, and many more. There are many walks and cycle routes available to the public. The Phoenix Park is open 24 hrs a day
