It sits on the south East coast of England, Gatwick airport is 1hrs drive, there is also a Ferry Port in Newhaven which is about 35 minutes away by car, and Pevensey is served by 2 railway stations, Pevensey and Pevensey/Westham. To access the Bay from Eastbourne town centre which is approx. 2 miles away, take the A259 along the sea front to Pevensey Bay. There is good public transport with buses running from Pevensey Bay into the Eastbourne town Centre every half an hour. Pevensey Bay is about a mile from Sovereign Harbour with its waterside restaurants and bars overlooking the beautiful marina. There are many historical sites to visit including Pevensey Castle, as well as the remains of the Roman Fort built in 300 BC. Beachy Head is nearby which is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain with magnificent views. There are very many excellent sites to visit that are close enough to only require a short car journey. Eastbourne holds a weekly summer market on Wednesday for all fresh produce, cheeses, craft and collectable items. There are many antique shops in the area In early August each year Eastbourne hosts 'Airbourne' .This magnificent 5 day event is a must as watching all the aircraft ,especially the 'Battle of Britain Memorial Flight' flying low over the sea ,is a truly awesome sight There are lots of cycle routes to explore the beautiful countryside surroundings. Sovereign Harbour, an award-winning marina with a variety of gift, sport, boat accessory shops and restaurants. Heritage round trip pleasure boat cruises from Eastbourne's beacon to Beachy Head and its famous Lighthouse. Fort Fun, Fun packed 2-acre amusement park for all the family. Treasure Island, themed adventure golf, adventure playground with a paddling pool and a sandy beach. Pevensey Bay is an old-fashioned seaside town with charm and warmth.
