Our FAVORITE breakfast spot and truly a community style experience (however, you can eat alone as well)! A very easy walk from the property, Common Good Soup Kitchen & Cafe serves fresh popovers and oatmeal everyday with a selection of juice, tea, and coffee. Most folks there are volunteers to keep costs down and everything is paid by your donation of what you think is fair. They have a very large outdoor seating area that is VERY dog friendly along with a smaller indoor seating area. They often have live music that folks often sing along to. All proceeds go towards supporting their soup kitchen to support less fortunate Islanders especially in the winter. PLEASE try them out, it's a great experience!

For the special date night, Red Sky is more upscale with their decor, food, and prices. Kids are welcome there but we seldom see large families when we go. We greatly enjoy their food and it's nice having this type of restaurant in town to mix things up.

Coda is a new restaurant just behind Main Street and another easy walk from the property. They have a tapas style menu and often have live music performances. They also have a new little outside patio and bar area for warm summer evenings. Prices are a little high, but it's a great atmosphere and easy to share lots of small entrees.

An authentic Mexican restaurant in the woods of Southwest Harbor/Manset, Maine! Reservations are highly recommended for this hidden, quiet restaurant that is often very popular with an almost underground following. Excellent, traditional style sour margaritas to boot!

Amazing views of Bass Harbor and Western Mountain on their beautiful patio which is actually built on a jetty made of granite cuttings from the quarrying days on MDI. Prices are good and they are dog friendly. We always enjoy going to Seafood Ketch a few times per summer.

Directly across the street from us so convenience factor is high but we recommend one of our other seafood restaurants for high quality food. View is great, food is alright, service is reliably slow unfortunately. We want to love this place more due to it's location but we've been disappointed many times in the past several years. While the Upper Deck is on our recommendation list, it is not at the top. However, I am always happy with their burgers which seem to be made with better burger meat than your average restaurant!

Drinks & Nightlife

Actually called "Joey's Place", it is attached to the Village Wash Tub laundry mat for those times that your really need to wash a large comforter but you also want some beer and wings... Joey's Place is a little sports bar with a small outside dining area that serves wings and pub food as well. It's a nice little 'hole in the wall' that lots of locals enjoy!

Shopping

Excellent Market for local veggies, meat, and some seafood. They have an excellent organic selection of groceries as well. They offer some basic pastries, coffee, and excellent sandwiches to go. Groceries are a little pricey, but the are more "market fresh" than a standard supermarket.

Essentials

Local super market with almost all the essentials you will need to stock up for the week. They have a butcher and liquor section on top of regular groceries. (Don't trust Google, it is very much in Southwest Harbor)

Getting Around

The Island Explorer is the free bus service around the Island and Acadia National Park. The environmentally friendly buses run on propane and greatly reduce car traffic and parking congestion in town! Leave your car at the house and grab the bus just 400-500 feet from the house in front of Cafe Drydock at the corner of Main and Clark Point Rd. They can also take bikes on their front/rear bike racks if they have room so you can hit the carriage trails for the day.
