The Jail house Inn today is a very real and unique small cabin that was used as the original jail cells, originally built in 1920 and used to sit just behind the policeman's family home where it still is today. I have recently converted this very cool jail into a fully self contained cabin but keeping the old original doors, cells and even the bars on the windows. It is located right in the very heart of the township.

Our house was originally part of the former Tuatapere Primary School. It has been fully renovated into a modern, comfortable and warm home with a few quirky original details retained. The house is very private, situated on a big section landscaped with New Zealand native plants and fruit trees which attract numerous native birds, including the tiny, cheeky silvereyes after which the house is named.
