The village is in Apennines, the lower range of Alps. The nearest airport is Pescara which is just over an hour from Monteferrante, and about 2hrs from Rome. It's in the province of Abruzzo which is much less touristy than a lot of Italy. It boasts beautiful, breathtaking landscapes. Several huge national parks full of wildlife (some areas have wolves and bears roaming about, but these are guided routes). The area is also known for truffles and great local wines, good food.
