Due to his strong political views and being a southern sympathizer, he was arrested and banished from MO for disloyalty to the Union. He spent his exile in NY at NY Stock Exchange. After the war, he returned and reopened his bank. Today 817 Main houses Grit & Grace Boutique and Limrick Loft.
