In 2009 when the San Julian family moved to Cape Town from Mexico, they planned to stay in South Africa for a year and the 2010 football world cup. They missed authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurants they found were Tex-Mex, not bad, not the real deal. The San Julians proceeded to open an unpretentious restaurant in Cape Town for the World Cup. Their reputation spread and they are still here, to date, the only Mexican family run restaurant in South Africa.
