The Inside Guide sums it up nicely: "This hidden gin bar is where the insiders go, come sundown. Tucked neatly behind Honest Chocolate Café in the armpit of the Commune 1 Gallery, this dedicated gin bar, like its chocolately sibling, is all about quality rather than quantity."

A steep but relatively easy hike up a well-trodden path (under an hour for the fit), this route spirals up from the car park right to the top of Lion's Head, from where one has spectacular 306-degree views of the Atlantic seaboard, Cape Town and Table Mountain. Ideal for a picnic at the top. At full moon in warm weather, there is a constant stream of hikers with torches going to the top at night - when one looks up from the city, it looks like a string of jewels around the peak.
