This is great for families or people who are interested in science and water. It is VERY well done and is part of the SMITHSONIAN cohort in Washington DC. Worth the Visit!

Absolutely the number one thing to do in DBQ. It's fun and a wee bit scary but it's very safe. There's a candy store with ice cream at the base or a horse and carriage ride if you want a tour of downtown Dubuque

Everyone should find the riverwalk (.2 miles long)
Drive straight to the river on 3rd street and you will find the walk...a must see - everyone wants to see the MISSISSIPPI! At one end is a winery and Tony Roma's is along there too for apps, drinks or a meal!

Like to get outdoors?
Maquoketa Caves - a great place to hike; Mines of Spain or EB LYONS; these will let you get outside and see the terrain in eastern Iowa. Google the name for more details. Kids who find animals interesting will enjoy EB Lyons. Another casual hike (for anyone who can make it up a hill) is Swiss Valley Nature Center.
