Great park overlooking Puget Sound. A perfect spot for a summer picnic or BBQ. It has a walkway down to a small beach (lots of logs for sitting, but not a good place to lay out).

Probably the most popular spot in Seattle for a run or stroll. The loop around the lake is 2.8 miles (3.1 for the outside loop). The westside of the lake has a business district with some shops and restaurants. Stop in to the Starbucks there for a warm drink before starting your walk. Or, on a warm day, the rooftop deck at Starbucks is a bit of a well-known secret among locals.

Ok, the photos on this one just don't do it justice. Since the lakes are higher than the ocean, ships need to go through these locks to adjust the water height before continuing on. We love walking around and watching the boats, both big and small, go through the locks. We've also seen quite a few sea lions here!

If you happen to be in the area in April, Roozengaarde is the spot to go! They have a beautiful tulip garden, but also fields of tulips as far as the eye can see. Google "Skagit Valley Tulip Festival" to learn more details and confirm the dates. A bit of a local secret is to go in late March. While the tulips won't be out yet, you'll get beautiful views of the daffodils, free packing, and the best part--no crowds!

Ok, there's nothing special about this Starbucks, but I wanted to use it as a landmark for exploring Downtown Edmonds. This is a great spot for a stroll--there's cool little shops, really excellent dining, and if you're a travel fan--the Rick Steves headquarters and travel store.
