Recommended Local Restaurants

Here are a few local restaurants which I would recommend but there are plenty of others on Commercial Street and The Shore area, beside the Water of Leith, as well as further afield in Edinburgh city centre.
Across the road from the lovely Water of Leith walkway to the Shore in Leith or into the city centre (other direction). Small, quirky, with friendly staff. Lovely for breakfast and lunch, dinner during lighter months of the year. Emphasis on fresh local, Scottish ingredients, can cater for veggies, vegans, and food intolerances as well as omnivores. 3 minutes from the property

Lovely traditional bar on the water side of The Shore, sister restaurant to a larger seafood restaurant next door. Predominantly seafood restaurant but serves meat and veggie options too. You can dine in the lovely small dining room or the popular main bar-booking recommended. Live jazz on Tuesday and Thursday nights and sometimes on Sunday afternoons.

Small, quirky place on a quite 'unprepossessing' stretch of street. Friendly staff and fresh modern creative food, booking recommended.

Traditional bar, now gentrified, friendly staff, lovely selection of drinks and food for all-burgers, fish, veggie options. You can even dress up in their selection of vintage hats or have afternoon cocktails served in vintage china cups.

Great bar and restaurant on water side in Leith. Huge selection of drinks and food. Can be very busy but that is part of its charm. On Saturdays there is a little vintage and food market outside in the square, so nice to browse before or after lunch.

Very pretty traditional Southern Italian Restaurant, small but lovely menu and wine list, friendly and exuberant staff. Booking is required here for dinner. Lunch time the restaurant is open but this place does just the best warm sandwiches in Leith which they list but will also make to your choice from the huge selection of ingredients including their great fried chicken-I recommend buying them, taking a drink and walking around the corner to sit by the Water of Leith, weather permitting of course!
