If you're into big hikes, this is one of the best day hikes and it takes you to the top of New Mexico's highest peak. It is 10 miles round trip, 3000 ft elevation gain and stunning views. Be prepared for weather and bring food and water. It is a two hour drive to the Taos ski area. Drive up to the Bavarian where the trail starts. There are signs. Parking is somewhat limited to plan to arrive early. You get to Williams Lake in 2.0 miles which is a great hike too!
