Food scene
Update for 2023! We have an excellent new lunchtime winebar/restaurant "Sante" in The Courtyard, off Sadler Street.
The Kings Head on the High Street is open again (after 3 years or so) and a lively traditional pub venue with good pub grub.
Always reliable the Greek Taverna on Union Street, and I have heard great things about the new superior burger bar on Sadler Street.
The Thai restaurant on Sadler Street has lots of fans .... and The Olive Tree on Sadler Street also, I could go on .... but these are the ones I have tried in the last few months so can recommend whole heartedly!
Wells fresh produce and artisan products market every Wednesday and Saturday is a "must" for your calendar. Regularly voted one of the best markets in the South West.

Sightseeing
The Bishops Palace is surrounded by a moat and it is possible to enter the grounds via a (very good) cafe, however to really appreciate this gem it is worth paying the visitors fee, particularly if the weather as good as the gardens are truly stunning. It is so quiet and peaceful it is hard to believe you are in the centre of the city.

Wonderful large medieval cathedral with a green at the front, perfect for youngsters to play games and run off some energy.
