Brooklyn's largest museum has a surprisingly rich & varied collection, is a pleasant 15 minute walk from here and often hosts some of the better exhibitions in the city!

Smaller, but far less crowded and more wild and interesting than Manhattan's more famous Central Park (and landscaped by the same designers of Central Park), it's a favourite way to escape the city streets for a day.

Local options for dinner
D'Antan is still a "local secret" - a small, charming Italian dinner (and weekend lunch) restaurant hidden away from the main Franklin Avenue strip, run by expat Italians who deliver a finer evening experience than most others!

A bustling (sometimes noisy) late-night bar/restaurant offering the classic "burger-and-fries" experience along with more creative options from an unconventional menu. Always friendly, always busy, a great place to have close by.

This cool little taco/tostada restaurant focuses on doing a few things really well, and is charming enough to make you think you're somewhere far from the city.

One of the remaining Trinidadian bakeries in Crown Heights, with just take-out options but classic Trini snacks can keep you going as you walk - get a "Doubles" or two of them even, or an "Aloo pie" (and add some Chana) if you're hungrier. Really messy to eat, but vegetarian never tasted so good - a true Crown Heights Caribbean moment!

My favourite of the classic "all-American diner" category, a (longish) walk through leafy residential streets. Usually filled with a mix of old timers & art college students, Mike's has a timeless menu of the perfect diner breakfasts and sandwiches.

Every Saturday, from early morning to mid-afternoon, this is one of the best sources of vegetables, meats, breads and other delights grown or made in the farmlands around New York City. Dog lovers should visit early (around 9am or so) to see the throngs of dogs as they leave the park after their morning runs!
