There are lots of outdoor activities in and around Carlsbad. Bring good tennis shoes and good hiking boots to make your adventures more fun. Also, don't forget to stay hydrated. This is the desert and the air is very dry.

Good restaurants for fine dining are Yellow Brix and Trinity. Good BBQ are the Red Chimney and Danny's. Good Mexican food found at El Jimador and Mi Casita. The China Dragon has a good Asian buffet. Tokyo's has good sushi and Japanese grill food. Carlsbad has miles of public park land and kid-friendly equipment and activities on the banks of the Pecos River.
