Walking and hiking around Gran Canaria

Hiking

3km, 1h15 return journey. The trail leading to the Roque Nublo, a 70m tall volcanic crag, takes you uphill to the base of the rock itself. A very popular route and a must see! The Roque Nublo is one of the main landmark of the Island of Gran Canaria. To go back, follow the same path downhill. MANY OTHER SHORT AND LONG WALKS SUGGESTION AVAILABLE ;0)

14,2 km, 4h30 circular walk. Mostly on trail and with some short distances on paved roads. You will start the walk at an impressive viewpoint over a 3000 year old crater and a panoramic view of the northern and western side of the island. You will go uphill to eventually reach the edge of a gigantic crater formed millions of years ago by a violent explosion. It is now called La Caldera de Tejeda and looks like a very large eroded valley with El Roque Nublo in the background. You will follow the ridge of this valley until approaching the village Artenara and carry on through small valleys and cave house villages. At the end of the walk, before reaching the viewpoint try to spot the beautiful and rare century old Canarian Pine trees. MANY OTHER SHORT AND LONG WALKS SUGGESTION AVAILABLE ;0)

12,8 km, 4h circular walk. This walk will start by taking you on a trail through a pine tree forest up to Pico Las Nieves (alt. 1949m), the highest point of the island accessible safely. There the view of the southern and western side of the island is simply breath-taking. From there you will carry on through forests and bare rocky land before reaching the Roque Nublo.
