Being one of the more difficult waterfalls to view in the Mount Shasta area, it is still one of the most popular. This waterfall's 200 feet plus cascade has carved a unique narrow v shape into the exposed lava formation and unlike most waterfalls is most active during the hottest summer months thanks to the Whitney glacier that feeds it's stream. From the crossing of Highway 97 and Whitney Creek you can check to see if the creek is flowing or, look South to the waterfall in the distance to be sure.
