Lake Vyrnwy (12 miles away) has plenty of options for a great day out whether you want to walk in the neighbouring hills, cycle around the lake (you can hire bikes), or mountain biking. For a more gentle pace there is the RSPB reserve and fishing (with the correct permits of course). There is also a visitor centre, cafe and sculpture park. There are also a couple of cafe/restaurants around the lake with spectacular views.

There are many walking routes up the mountain and for most of the year a narrow gauge train (weather permitting) but you may need to book this. There is also a cafe at the top with stunning views if you are lucky to get clear weather.
