We are the Quartz Crystal Capitol of the World here in the Ouachita National Forest where you can dig for or find some of the prettiest crystals. Each year there is an entire festival centered around the Championship Dig. We are also only 38 miles from the Crator of Diamonds State Park where you keep what you find. And then there is Lake Ouachita (WAH-shi-tah). 40,000 acres of water and 690 miles of shore line. The average depth is 50 ft with the deepest area being 200 ft. One of the cleanest man-made lakes in the US, it offers endless opportunities for fishing, diving or playing on the water. Of course we also have rivers. Float down the Ouachita past the famous Camp Ozark before it spills into Lake O. Or try the Caddo for a day filled with floating and fishing from either your own or rented kayaks or canoes. Love hiking or biking? We have 3 IMBA EPIC trails.  Try out some sections of the Ouachita, LOViT or the Womble trails for a true backcountry experience or just a leisure walk along the lake. Travel 31 miles east to visit Hot Springs National Park or head west 56 miles to Queen Wilhelmina State Park for some panoramic views.
