Public Transit
ART is the name of the bus system here and there is a pickup right at the end of the street! You can also Uber or Lyft. We are so close to Haywood Road you could easily walk anywhere in West Asheville! There are no public bikes or scooters but there are companies who provide tours with both!

Say hi but please respect pandemic boundaries!
The Asheville community has been very safe so far about Covid-19. It is proper to always wear your mask inside. This is a friendly community and strangers will often say hi, don’t be shy to talk them up, but please respect a 6 foot distance. There is a homeless community, be mindful of their hardship while also making sure you’re respecting your own boundaries.

Grocery stores!
Hopey and Co is a locally owned discount grocery store with amazing organic/vegan groceries at incredibly low prices. Best advice is to get all your snacks and foods from there and then if you can’t find something stop by Earthfare in Westgate Shopping Center on your way back!

Tours and Spas
Always be sure to book your tours and spa/sauna ahead of time. They fill up quickly during tourist season and it can be difficult to find one that will take you day of, especially on the weekends!

Comfortable shoes, light clothes, and sun protection!
This is a walking town a lot of the time so be sure to bring comfy shoes. This is still the south and it gets muggy and hot! Be sure to bring hats or some kind sun protection for your beautiful face!

Show empathy!
Our community is currently being disheveled by the ongoing racial inequality and global pandemic. A lot of people are out of work, some businesses are closed, and people are sensitive to the pressing sociopolitical issues. Be patient and show empathy for those who are struggling; and please, please don’t make racial slurs or prejudice “jokes” in our community.

Buses are not the best for children.
The bus system often transits homeless people. Most of them are very good people but this may not be the best place for children. It could be an enlightening and empathy building experience, but that’s really up to you. Also, please be mindful of the sun and heat. Use sun protection for your children, hats ideally, and bring lots of water around with you for your thirsty adventures!
