A taqueria across from the university campus. The dining area is very small, but you can also order to go. Probably the most authentic Mexican food in town.

An excellent Thai restaurant across from the University campus. It has been voted best restaurant in town. It is small, and there may be times when you’ll have to wait for a seat. I especially recommend the panang curry and the mango chicken.

Also known as Kitts Coffee Bar or Kitts Kitchen and Coffee, this is the place to go for the very finest coffee (in my opinion). There’s also a breakfast menu, including crepes, bagel sandwiches, and more. Great architectural ambience with wood beams and brick, friendly baristas, and seating both inside and outside.

If you're looking for fresh, local food, you'll have a great time here. There are no certified organic growers, but there are several who are nevertheless actually organic or better. Ask around.
The Market meets from May through October. But there's more.... Little Town Gardens in Gibbon has greenhouses that supply fresh produce throughout the winter. They have partnered with other small, area cottage industries to provide jams and salsas, bread, farm-raised meats, homemade tortillas, fresh-roasted coffees, and many other items. They deliver in Kearney once a week.

Harmon Park is in the middle of the old city. I have many memories of ambling through the rock garden, picnicking, and listening to a band at the outdoor Sonotorium on summer Sunday evenings. There's a large playground for the kids, the main municipal swimming pool, tennis courts, and more.
