Boise Foothills

The Boise foothills are steps from our door for most, but no longer than a 20-minute drive from all residents. The trails are beloved by two and four-legged pallies with shoes, paws, hooves, and wheels!
RidgetoRivers.org or BoiseTrails.com Either site will give you the best insite for where to hike and how the trails are being kept up/closures. Less than a mile away we have the entrance to 170 miles of Boise trails. Trails range from easy to advanced. Hiking, biking, walking, horseback riding, running, etc. Gorgeous and a must if you're able.

Day Trip from Boise

A 3-hour one-way drive *or* less from Boise
McCall (2 hours north) is a gorgeous bi-seasonal town situated around Payette Lake. Summer offers boating and water recreations, hiking/biking on the trails. Winter means Brundage Mountain -- skiing and snowboarding kicks off. There is tubing for the kiddos.

Idaho has sooo many natural hot springs that it’s possible to purchase land with natural hot spring water and open up for business! The Springs in Idaho City (about a 45-min to 1-hour drive from Boise) is a renovated concept that has been around for a while in Idaho where what looks like an outdoor pool with a hot tub situation is where you can soak in the natural hot spring water. It’s maintained and cleaned daily. Limited space and availability means reservations are required and you will also not have an issue finding a chair around the pool. They have private tubs for hourly rates or the public pool area has a morning and an afternoon time slot you can reserve. I try to go on an adult day (18+) so I can use a floatie — they don’t allow them on kid days to minimize commotion. They have food and bev service as well as alcohol (limited to one drink per hour). We always get the Mediterranean plate with hummus and their massive brownies are so necessary.

Tipping Standard in the USA

Restaurants and Cocktail bars: 20% // Dive Bars: $1-2/drink — this is the standard because they survive on tips. Servers in Boise are paid $3.35/hour. If you choose to participate in the restaurant scene, tipping 20% is the bare minimum. We have tons of great drive-thru options if you don’t feel like tipping the people who are providing you a service!

Make the reservation!

Boise is a rapidly growing city. It’s made some of the Best to Live lists in recent years and we are losing the luxury of doing most things unplanned/willy nilly. Unless it’s 1. an off day, or 2. you’ve found a hidden gem that won’t be hidden for long, or 3. it’s actually not that good of a place, you might have to wait or come to find they have zero availability during your whole stay! **If they accept reservations, make the gd reservation!**

Don’t Change Boise, Let Boise Change You

What we mean is, chill tf out. “Boise Kind” is a feeling you feel when you’re sitting in your garden and a neighbor walks by and says hello on the way to their car. When you’re walking on the Greenbelt in the morning and say “good morning” as you pass by fellow pedestrians. Inhale kindness.
