St. George Reef Lighthouse is located six miles off the coast of Crescent City. The lighthouse is accessible only via helicopter. On a clear day, the lighthouse is visible from Pt. George.

THE HIKE: A double-loop of slightly less than a mile. Take a right at the first fork, then another right onto Peterson Memorial Trail, which eventually rejoins Simpson-Reed loop as it circles counter-clockwise back to the starting point.
SWEAT LEVEL: The trail is level, smooth and short
GETTING THERE: Park along the well-marked turnouts along highway 199, just 3 miles east of highway 101.

THE HIKE: A double-loop of slightly less than a mile. Take a right at the first fork, then another right onto Peterson Memorial Trail, which eventually rejoins Simpson-Reed loop as it circles counter-clockwise back to the starting point.
SWEAT LEVEL: The trail is level, smooth and short
GETTING THERE: Park along the well-marked turnouts along highway 199, just 3 miles east of highway 101.
THE HIKE: A 5.6 mile round trip deep into the old-growth redwoods on Boy Scout Trail in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.
SWEAT LEVEL: An easy trek with only about 200 feet of total altitude fluctuation
GETTING THERE: From Crescent City, go east on Elk Valley Rd, then south on Howland Hill Rd. Watch for the trailhead on the left side about three miles after the road turns to dirt.

THE HIKE: A 5.6 mile round trip deep into the old-growth redwoods on Boy Scout Trail in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.
SWEAT LEVEL: An easy trek with only about 200 feet of total altitude fluctuation
GETTING THERE: From Crescent City, go east on Elk Valley Rd, then south on Howland Hill Rd. Watch for the trailhead on the left side about three miles after the road turns to dirt.
THE RIDE: 7-mile out and back on gravel road or 8.5 mile loop with lower Lake Road and Kellogg Rd.
HIGHLIGHTS: Coastal dunes, forest, wildlife in freshwater ponds, elk and historic Indian village site.
SWEAT LEVEL: Moderate with small hills. Gravel road with some sandy spots.
GETTING THERE: From Crescent City, take 101 north to Kings Valley Rd and head west. Continue straight into Morehead rd until it meets Lower Lake Rd. Take a right. Take an immediate left on Kellogg Rd. Trailhead is 0.5 mile west on your left. Continue north on Lower Lake Rd for Pala Rd trail head.
