Not many Japanese restaurants in Newcastle, but this would be our favourite. Try and get a early evening booking overlooking the harbour. Very relaxed experience with great food. The sashimi selection is our favourite.

Our favourite hole in the wall restaurant. We eat here way too often. The pan-fried pork dumplings are a must, crispy skin chicken, rainbow beef and the combination flat rice noodle dish is what we order EVERY time.

Only new to the area. But we have heard so much about them already. Rosa had a kitchen near our apartment at Wickham before she moved to Newcastle East. The best home-style cooking in Newcastle with the very best views over the ocean.

If you want to entertain the kids for a while. Take the kids on a back and forth trip on the tram from Scott St, Newcastle East. Hop off anywhere and have a look around. If you want to venture out. Get off at Wharf Road and catch the ferry to Stockton. Head on over to the pubs for some lunch.
Once you’re back, get back to Scott St end, and ride or walk over to Newcastle Baths where the kids can cool off in summer in the big shallow bathing pool.
