This is only a few minutes walk from Shimmerlake. This beautiful course is very handy if golf is one of your passions. Even if golf isn't your thing there is a magnificent walk around the periphery of the course. Look out for the sculptures.

The entrance road to the Remarkables Ski Area is only 10min drive from Shimmerlake, so you can be on the mountain real quick. This skifield has had a lot of improvements over the last few years and now vies with Coronet Peak for which is the best.
Please take chains for your vehicle because it is a real mountain road and can get slippery. The views from the mountain road are breathtaking.

This is Queenstown's gem. My parents skied Coronet Peak in 1949 soon after it opened and introduced me to skiing at the age of 4. Too young to use the "nut cracker" tow rope belt I had to hang on to a rope around my Dad's waist to get up the mountain. You'll be pleased to know the facilities are a lot more modern that that now.
This is a must do. There's something for every level of skier or snowboarder... and if you are a summer visitor the lift is open for several months over summer for mountain biking.
It's amazing how the slopes we ski on seem so steep when you are on your bike!
