Climb Paritutu rock this volcanic outcrop sticks out like a sore thumb between two of New Plymouths loveliest beaches, Ngamotu beach and back beach, just climb the stairs and then there is a short distance of moderate too easy rockclimbing will get you to the summit for views over New Plymouth and the surrounding coastline.

The most accessible waterfall in the Taranaki region and certainly one of the most impressive just a 10 minute walk from the Dawson Falls visitors centre through glorious native forest to this almost 60 foot high falls.

Leave Ruru retreat on your mountain bike or E bike and follow the Picturesque Te Henui walkway down to the ocean to join the coastal walkway at Eastend beach. Distance: The Coastal Walkway is 13.2km from Port Taranaki to the eastern end side of Bell Block Beach. Sections of the Walkway Port to the Wind Wand: 3.4km Wind Wand to Te Rewa Rewa Bridge: 4.5km Te Rewa Rewa Bridge to Tiromoana Cresent, Bell Block: 4.8km Grade: Easy. The walkway is paved, with some gentle slopes. It is excellent for walking, running, cycling, skateboarding, skating and scooting. Most people would be able to walk 4-6km/hr on the Coastal Walkway.
