Bring a lunch or picnic and eat it on a Historic Island
This is one of a chain of Island monasteries in both Upper and Lower Lough Erne. Devenish was an important port of call on one of Early Christian Ireland's major highways

About
Devenish Monastic Site was founded in the 6th century by Saint Molaise on one of Lough Erne’s many islands.
During its history it has been raided by Vikings (837AD), burned (1157AD) and flourished (Middle Ages) as a parish church site and St. Mary’s Augustine Priory. There are ruins from different time periods on site; the earliest being St. Molaise house (small church) and the round tower which are 12th Century. A second church from the 13th Century, which was extended over time, was the lower church.
St. Marys Augustinian Priory on the hilltop has been dated from the middle 15th Century to early 16th Century with a church, tower and small cloister. In the graveyard stands a distinctive, unusual, intricately carved stone cross from the 15th Century.

Beautiful Historic garden
The Devenish Figures are a unique collection of wooden sculptures carved out of Irish oak. The figures of saints and scholars which include Saints Patrick, Brigid, ...looked like it was going to rain. The garden is icely done, with little buildings and famine history..read as much or as little as you like. Very informative. Figures/statues/totems make it even better with some music following you around the site...the lights are activated by movement..simple but very effective.

The caves are spectacular. The Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark, which straddles counties Fermanagh and Cavan, became the world’s first cross border Geopark in 2008. Established across almost 20,000 hectares of public land it is jointly managed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Cavan County Council.
In November 2015, the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark was awarded UNESCO status making it Northern Ireland’s second only UNESCO supported location alongside the Giant’s Causeway in Co. Antrim. UNESCO Global Geopark status is awarded to areas with internationally important geological heritage that also have a sustainable tourism strategy so that they benefit the local and regional economy.
