Newlyn is a small fishing village, with superb cafes and restaurants and its very own independent Cinema.
Everywhere in Newlyn is an easy walk, mostly downhilll from Anchor Cottage! Once you've got yourselves parked up, it is worth leaving the car and travelling on foot.
There is much to explore, from exquisite fish tapas at Mackerel Skies and fantastic coffee from Lovetts, to local cheeses from Newlyn Cheese and Charcuterie and a Greengrocers for all your fresh veg and fruit! There are lots of wonderful little galleries as well as the beautiful Newlyn Art Gallery, and lots of pubs or the fish and chip shop for restoratives.
Newlyn is a great base from which to head out into the rest of West Cornwall, with Mousehole, Lamorna and Lands End in one direction and Penzance, Marazion and St Michael's Mount in the other. And of course, St Ives across the peninsula.

The closest cafe to Anchor Cottage, it is an absolute gem of a place. It serves Origin coffee, which is just the best, and highly indulgent cakes. The wines are all hugely drinkable.....and the staff wonderful. Go and enjoy!

Newlyn is best to explore on foot
Newlyn has little lanes, tiny granite cottages and even on occasion a cobbled floor. The harbour and promenade elegantly takes you to Penzance and ultimately Marazion - and St Michael’s Mount. Train routes finish at Penzance! To explore further West without a car, look at the bus and Land's End Coaster https://www.firstbus.co.uk/adventures-bus/services/lands-end-coaster Always quite fun, especially on a nice day when sat up top.
