This order-at-the-counter Mexican restaurant has been around a long time and for good reason. We recommend the Mike's Mex-O-Lina (spicy shredded beef), but you really can't go wrong.

Some of the best Crested Butte sunsets can be seen from the Umbrella Bar. Check their website for hours, as they tend to be a bit inconsistent given events and weddings sometimes hosted here. But if you’re lucky enough to catch it while it’s open, its views won’t disappoint. In the summertime, you can hike across the mountain or drive to this location. Open during ski season as a great snack or drink stop, straight off the slopes, as well.

Although this ice cream and dessert spot has 2 locations, one of those is on the mountain closer to the condo. This is your best bet for ice cream as close to the condo as possible! On warm evenings, you can even walk across the mountain to the base area to pick it up.

I may be biased because I worked as an ice cream scooper here 20 years ago, but I always recommend swinging by the chocolate favorite for fudge, ice cream, truffles, cookies, or caramel apples. Located right on the heart of Main Street!

This place is an experience in itself - it’s the building in town covered in license plates from all over the country. Delicious coffee and pastries!

This coffee shop is walkable from the condo, so I always recommend it for a nice morning stroll to coffee. You can walk along the base of the mountain along the mountain trails, and arrive at your coffee/pastries in about 15 minutes. It is somewhat downhill to get there and uphill to get back to the condo, so wear your walking shoes and be prepared to work off your pastries! :)

Hiking
There are a million hikes you could choose, so we recommend doing your research to be sure you choose one that suits your group’s needs. However, here are a few of our favorites.
Snodgrass is a great hike within a 10 min drive from our condo with amazing views of the Mountain and is known for wildflowers. Although AllTrails lists it as close to 6 miles, it’s an out-back, meaning you can turn around at any point. The best views are within the first 2 miles from the trailhead.

This is a great kid and family friendly hike, right outside of the town. It offers great views of Mt. Crested Butte and Peanut Lake. The first bit is a well shaded, flat trail walk through the aspen trees, and then opens up to the views. It’s approximately a 3 mile out-back.

Treasury Hill RoadThis is a great kid and family friendly hike, right outside of the town. It offers great views of Mt. Crested Butte and Peanut Lake. The first bit is a well shaded, flat trail walk through the aspen trees, and then opens up to the views. It’s approximately a 3 mile out-back.
Judd Falls offers a beautiful waterfall overlook with just a short 2.2 mile out-back hike. You’ll see lots of nature and wildlife, as well as cool research areas owned by the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab. The trailhead has you pass right through the historic town of Gothic - which is worth a stop for a snack or a souvenir.

The trailhead has you pass right through the historic town of Gothic - which is worth a stop for a snack or a souvenir.

The Mountain Express Shuttle
This free, year round bus transports you from town to the mountain (where our condo is located), so you never need to worry about getting “stuck,” especially if you’ve traveled without a vehicle yourself. Typically operating on 15 minute intervals until midnight, it’s a great and convenient option for transportation in Crested Butte. The closest bus stop to the condo is Wood Creek one. Be sure to checkout their website for route and schedule details, which vary depending on the season.
