40625 Big Bear BlvdThe best isolated areas for sledding! From the cabin make a right on North Shore Drive Bridge and make a left and drive along North Shore Drive and there are park areas and picnic areas where sledding is allowed. But if you go further west on that road, there are plenty of isolated hills to sled on without the big crowd. Just bring your own portable potty and you’ll have the best “free” snow fun in your life!

Travel tips
Our cabin is very close Highway 38, so getting up and down the mountain is more convenient using this Highway. It’s a beautiful and less zigzags. It’s a drive thru the San Bernardino Forest! So beautiful and less crowded.

Portable Humidifier to keep from drying up.
Humidifiers are great in the winter when heaters are on which tend to dry everything! Staying hydrated is also helpful!

Keep it simple
Bring earth-friendly paper plates and disposable cups if you don’t like washing dishes. If you don’t want to wash coffee cups, bring your own spill-proof insulated travel mug that you can use in the house and on the slopes!

Stop by the grocery store
Do your food shopping on the way up the mountain at Walmart on one of the last exits prior to heading up the mountain. Or stop by Vons/Stater Brothers before you get to the cabin. We provide starter coffee grinds and filters, starter k-cups and nespresso capsules. However, if you’re a coffee connoisseur or just have your favorites, then I recommend you bring them or buy them before getting to the cabin. We also provide starter tea bags for tea-lovers. If you like hot cocoa, you’ll have to bring it. I would recommend buying gallon size waters and just use cups or your own reusable water bottle

Bring it to the mountain/slopes
Bring your own coffee tumbler or thermos and bring it with you to the slopes. Make a thermos for coffee and hot chocolate and keep it in an insulated cooler in the car and extra bottles of water. You’ll enjoy it after skiing or sledding.
Ungaphoswa
Walmart at the bottom of the mountain
This is probably the cheapest way to get supplies before heading up the mountain. It’s also one of the last area where you can use the restroom before making the drive up. You’ll be thankful you did it in case an accident occurs that prolongs your drive.

Car
Winter: 4-Wheel Drive vehicles or 2-Wheel Drive with chains. Summer: Any car that will make it up to the mountain.

Portable Potty
Their cheap and convenient on long drives. Bring a blanket and travel pillows in the car. Bring extra socks and shoes, in case their snow gets in their winter boots. Nobody likes wet, cold feet, especially in the winter. I usually keep a bag with a set of extra socks, shoes, and pants to change into after playing in the snow.

Windshield and snow scrapers
When it’s predicted to snow, pull your wipers up and have a snow scraper and brush ready in the car. Brush and scrape snow from all windows prior to driving. If you have an engine start feature in your vehicle then I would also suggest using that prior to getting in the car.

No slipping and sliding.
The snow shovel is outside of the kitchen door to the left. The rug outside of kitchen is uneven to help prevent pooling of water/ ice on the outside rug. 2) Please be careful walking/driving around town and the property. Although we’ve had the driveway and pathways shoveled and sprayed salt (de-icer) in these areas, we cannot stop the force of nature and formation of ice or snow falling. (We cannot be responsible for acts of nature, ie, snow pile up and/or ground freezing, nor the dangers and any incidents they cause.). We have however have provided you with a snow shovel &Ice Melts to use.
