SO beautiful for 30 miles and just as beautiful on return. Fisher towers, the Priest & nuns, Castleton tower, Castle valley, and of course the Colorado river.
coming or going to Colorado, this is the route to take from hwy 70 (@ exit 203) ,but only in the daytime. it's shorter but slower.

with the new "timed entry" reservation system now I place at Arches it may well be more difficult to visit the park.
That said, it is a special opportunity to see the park at the best times od the day;. ie at sunrise or for sunset.
I believe - but I am not sure - that these times outside the timed system will be used especially by those unable to get a reservation ... just as well, it's the best time to visit Arches; quiet is a quality best found at dawn...even w a lots of other people

Especially in mid summer, it's cooler in the lasals. Driving clockwise from Moab the Colorado river road is stunning for 15 miles, turning into castle valley. the drive thru castle valley is stunning turning right onto the loop road (or driving up to Fisher needs overlook). Desert turns to mountains and the view into castle valley is too of the world.
true the rest of the loop road isn't redrock terrain we are famous for but there are beautiful lakes in the lasals.
Meanwhile, most cars could turn onlo Sandflats road back down to Moab or finish out the loop road or of course go back the way you came....a full day !!
