City/town information
Anzère ,is a small mountain resort perched at an altitude of 1,500 meters.
Only 20 minutes away from Sion, Anzère and the villages on the mountain slope offer you a unique quality of life. Bathed in sun, benefiting from an exceptional panoramic view, this little corner of paradise, facing due south at the heart of Valais is an ideal place for all lovers of nature and outdoor activities.
In winter, you will be able to enjoy our ski domain some 60 km in length, its runs suitable for all levels, its modern installations and its numerous high-altitude refreshment bars and restaurants. In the winter period, a free bus service takes you directly to the foot of the ski lifts.
In summer, nature lovers will be delighted with the hiking trails offering them the opportunity to admire the many chamois, ibexes and marmots who have taken up residence in our mountains.
Anzère Spa & Wellness is open all year round, thus completing the resort’s offer. The Pool Area is perfect for the whole family, children are welcome and admission is free up to the age of 6. The Wellness Area and its state of the art installations are, on the other hand, reserved for adults who will be able to relax in peace and quiet. Our therapists and beauticians propose a number of different treatments and massages. Free entertainment is also regularly organised in the establishment.
In Anzère, we are concerned about the environment. As a result, Anzère Spa and Wellness centre is heated ecologically, using wood pellets, by the largest wood-based heating system in Europe. This system allows more than 1.5 million litres of central heating oil to be saved each year.
The resort has a considerable advantage: its pedestrian village square is closed to traffic thus allowing your children to play in complete safety. In winter, visitors have free access to a ski run and a toboggan run. No tiring walk back up – you ride a magic carpet. Ideal for beginners and children! The village drag lift, located a little higher up, lets you join the ski lifts without removing your skis. In summer, there is a playground and numerous free activities (ping-pong, football field, pit-pat game, chess, etc.) The equipment can be rented at the tourist office. Numerous events are organised all year round on the village square.
For those interested in history or with curious minds, Les Bisses Museum is open from May to October. Located at Botyre, on the Ayent road which links Anzère to Sion, it goes back over the exciting history of the “bisses”. ancient irrigation canals.
History of Anzère
Anzère is a young resort. In fact, before the 1960s, there were only five small chalets here. As a result of its ideal location on a south-facing slope, Anzère underwent rapid development with the construction of holiday apartments, chalets, hotels, ski lifts and other tourist infrastructures. This is how the Anzère resort came into being and became a modern holiday village on a human scale. There are numerous “mayens” (rudimentary alpine dwellings made of stone or wood browned by the sun) in the surrounding area.
