Neighborhoods
If we head to the city, we love to spend a day or afternoon strolling around Ballard. After visiting the Troll Bridge, The Ballard Locks and the Burke-Gilman Bike trail, we love lunch at Ray’s Boathouse. Strolling the the main drag and side streets of Ballard is really fun. It is chock full of quirky vintage thrift shops, coffee shops, bookstores and pubs. It has charming sidewalk seating for many of the eateries. We love to stroll around and sample desserts from several of the unique desert shops like The Pie Bar, Salt and Straw and Salt and Sugar Bakery.

Sightseeing
Woodland Park Zoo is an incredibly charming City Zoo that feels like a combination of botanical park, nature walk and zoo life. The exhibits are fantastic and very well done. The surrounding neighborhood is also a favorite. We love the play park just outside the zoo. There are plenty of places to choose from for a bite afterwards like Ada’s or Red Mill Burgers. If you have time take a stroll around Green Lake to see city folk on promenade or getting their sweat on. The north end of the lake has lots of cute shops and places to eat as well.
