Be friendly
We live in a small western town of 10 000 people. Feel free to wave, smile or say hello out and about, at restaurants or at grocery stores.
It's a friendly town with people and neighbors who greet you in return, and are quick to help if needed.

Bears and other wild animals
Due to our close proximity to Yellowstone National Park, we sometimes get bears up the Southfork. DO NOT LEAVE ANY FOOD OR DRINK IN YOUR CARS. All trash must be deposited in trash cans or gotten rid of.
We also have wonderful deer and elk populations, as well as wild mustang horses. Occasionally we'll see a coyote but not often. I know there are wolves but honestly we haven't seen any in Cody.
We also have a residential herd of about 600 deer that can be seen around town. Don't feed the wild animals please. They need to care for themselves when tourist season is over.

Bring water , hat, sunscreen and comfortable hiking shoes
We're about 5000 ft above sea level. You will burn before you realize it... apply sunscreen.
Drink lots of water, wear loose clothes, wear a hat, sunglasses and take it slow. The altitude can kick your butt.
If you get dizzy when you stand up or walk, take things slower.
If you get a headache it's just the altitude. Refer back to the previous advice.
The ground can be uneven so wear comfortable, non-slip shoes.
Nothing like a bad sunburn or a sprained ankle while on vacation...
