Harpers Ferry is a great place to have lunch and walk around the town. I highly recommend the Maryland Heights trail which gives you this incredible view of the town. Park in Harpers Ferry and take the trail across the train bridge to the trailhead in Maryland along the C & O Canal.

Day hike to Appalachian Trail and this incredible overlook. Yes those are my feet dangling off the edge! Can do entire hike back and forth from cabin in less than 4 hours. Take water and snacks at a minimum.

Wonderful restaurant for lunch in the tree filled courtyard, which actually has a stream running through it! I go here whenever I need a Zen moment. It’s worth the drive to Shepardstown.

If you want to enjoy a lake and have some snacks. Closest restaurant/bar to cabin. You can also fish and swim at the lake beach …but they do charge. Definitely recommend.
