If you haven’t realized from the rest of the guidebook, Middle Street is where most of the best food and drink spots are. However, there are some pretty good sights there too. New Bern is rich in history and still maintains that small-town look and feel.

Tyron Palace, formally called Governor’s Palace was the official residence and administrative HQ of the British governors of NC. It’s a great piece of history and offers amazing tours. Just google “Tyron Palace, NC” to schedule a tour.

Very quaint little park just outside downtown New Bern. Aside from the aesthetics, there is a nice walking trail all along the waterfront.

This place has the best alfredo! Be sure to get it with blackened shrimp and scallops! If seafood is your thing, this is where you want to be!

Beaches
Atlantic Beach is in Morehead City, about 45 minutes away from my house. It’s a nice beach with a few bars and  restaurants within walking distance. Be warned, finding parking is a bit difficult depending on when you go.

Emerald Isle is about an hour away, it’s a really nice beach with some good places to fish and eat, in some cases at the same place!
