Food scene

If you're looking for delicious baked goods, savory breakfast pies, great coffee & locally made ice cream, this is the spot. The blueberry pie & cinnamon rolls are our favorite. There is also WiFi available. Even better, it's a 3 minute drive from the house.

Hands down the best pizza in the area, maybe even the state. The chicken parm & basically everything on the menu is also super impressive. Mostly a take out place, get it to go & eat in the comfort of your apartment.

Sightseeing

Hiking: Where to begin? There is so much to explore in RMNP, but some of our favorite hikes are: Ouzel Falls, Gem Lake, Lake of Glass/Sky Pond, and Emerald Lake. Make sure you bring lots of water, snacks & comfy shoes. The weather can change quite drastically in the Park. Skiing: Go backcountry at Hidden Valley, an abandoned ski resort from the 90s. It's a hustle up hill, but well worth it to explore empty slopes with amazing powder.

Check out this architectural masterpiece of the 19th century. It's where Stephen King wrote The Shining & has an incredibly rich history. There are ghost tours, history tours & more. There's also a restaurant inside the hotel but it is a bit overpriced for what you get. The bar, however, is pretty cool to grab a drink at.

Avoid food shopping in Estes Park

If you're coming by car, grab your groceries in Boulder, Denver, or Longmont. The grocery store is Estes Park may be close, but it gets super busy during the summer & prices tend to be higher.

A few things you'll need during your stay in Colorado

Colorado weather can be super hot, cold & everything in between, it is good to be prepared. If you're coming from sea level, you'll need to prepare to acclimate as well! - sunscreen - sun hat - warm/waterproof jacket for evening - wool socks - chacos or sandals - comfy hiking shoes/boots - reusable water bottle (our water is delicious) - snacks
