The nearby public library on Essex street is also a hole built by a sea captain for his daughter.

Appleton Farms Grass Rides

Go to the exit road and park along side it on the right ( just after the high school building ends and a road joins the exit road) to walk the 1/4 mile up a small incline and along a fenced field to the Old Salem Green parking lot and trailhead. In summer pass the high school on the right . The next right is Old Salem Green. Turn onto Olde Salem Green and proceed up hill to far end of parking lot. Trailhead is there. Hikes are on AllTrails app. Biggest loop is 2.5 mile yellow blaze moderate hike with some rocky parts and marsh views.
