Neighbourhoods

This is the main street around the University of Glasgow. It's full of nice shops, bars and restaurants! It's nice just to walk from the top end from the Botanic Gardens to the bottom where you reach Partick.

This is an adorable cobbled street and hidden gem of Glasgow. It is always packed when the sun is out and is lovely to see at night when the fairy lights come on. All the bars on this street are great and offer different discounts throughout the week. Here there is: Brel, a Belgian bar which offers Fondue and Moules et Frites during the week and a great selection of drinks, Jinty McGuinty's is a great Irish pub which often has live music (fyi it's cash only), the Ubiquitous Chip is a classic venue where a lot of the university staff hang out but can be a bit pricey, Vodka Wodka for some fun cocktails and a beer garden at the back.

Sightseeing

It's lovely to walk around the cloisters and to the flag pole at the back of the building to get a great view of the city!

It's free and is nice to wander around on a rainy day. The building itself is beautiful so is worth a visit. Baffo is a pizza restaurant across the road and is one of the best in Glasgow! Mother India's Cafe is also a place worth visiting for some good Indian cuisine.

KG is the main park in the West End of Glasgow. It is always packed when the sun comes out! During the summer months, there are a lot of events on and often some live music from the Band Stand. A stroll along the pedestrianised Kelvin Way is also a good shout!

Food scene

GWR is full of cafes, bars and restaurants and is just off Napiershall Street! So we thought we'd give you our recommendations for places to eat/drink near the flat! Restaurants: Non Viet, is a great wee Vietnamese restaurant which we always recommend! It's small and cash only so maybe book in advance. Bread Meats Bread is a great burger place with a lot of different options to chose from. Maybe skip lunch as this place will keep you feeling full for hours! BRGR is another burger place but is much cheaper and a bit more like a fancier fast food place but worth a visit! Paesano is the most famous pizza place in Glasgow. Baffo or Mozza are our favourites but Paesano is closer to the flat :D La Lanterna is a lovely Italian restaurant but can be quite pricey - Nice for a fancier dinner! Oran Mor is an amazing venue. It is an old church that has been turned into a resto/bar and wedding venue. We'd definitely recommend even just going inside for a look. It has traditional Scottish food and a great selection of whiskies! Brunch spots: Kothel, Kelvin Pocket or Urban West. The Broken Clock, Sonny and Vitos, Cottonrake Bakery and Sips and Baker are nice coffee/cake places too! There is also Loop and Scoop for Churros and Ice Cream. Bars: Inn Deep has a great selection of beers and is set in cool tunnels next to the River Kelvin. Machair and Banana Moon are very close to the flat and are quite hipster. The Belle, Hug and Pint and Bret Bar are all nice too! The Old School House is not on GWR but is close enough and is nice for watching sports or sitting outside. Coopers and Kitty O'Shea's are sports bars.

City/town information

Pronounced "Mil-guy" is where you can start the famous West Highland Way which takes you from Glasgow all the way up to Fort William, in the Scottish highlands. You can get the bus 60A or X10, 2mins from the flat. Milgavie is also a cute town to walk around with some nice places to stop by before you start the trek. We'd suggest The Honeybee Bakery and Finsby's Pizza.

We would always suggest to our guests to visit the West End before going into the city centre. However here you can find ur recommendations for things to do in town! It is mostly shops and offices in the city centre however some cool bars are: Buck's Bar, Malones, Butterfly and the Pig, Sloans, Gin 71, Waxy O'Conners, Slouch and Doppio Malto. Glasgow has quite a famous nightlife so on Sauchiehall Street ("su-kee-hall" street) and Bath Street is where you'll find most of the clubs and late night bars, most open until 3pm. A lot of places offer live music too, you'll hear it before you see it!
