Live music and cocktails
Amazing venue for live music. I love this place as it has retained it's ungentrified character of what a tavern should be. The clientele reflect the same genuine character of the decor. Lots of cover tribute bands every weekend. Just walk west along the Danforth and you are there.

Absolutely the coolest local place for live music. An eclectic decor wrapped in red featuring an old upright piano. Looks like the place was designed by someone's grandmother with a penchant for garage sales. Featuring amazing Toronto musicians who pretty much are performing right at your table. Because it is so small that there is barely room for a stage or a table making it awesome.

Dining Out Just Steps Away
Here are a list of eateries ranging from casual to fine dining only a few strides outside our front door.
I am Dutch and this is a little piece of Holland right in our neighborhood. We have a word in dutch that refers to a place as cozy (Gezellig) and that is exactly what this place is. Full of Dutch chachkas just like you will find in a typical dutch household. And they feature a few typical Dutch treats off the bar menu.

Voted the best place for croissants in Toronto. You will salivate over the baked goods in the display. Caveat is their coffee is terrible. So my advice is to get a latte from Starbucks across the street and then go for the croissants at this place.

I love the fish tacos here and they have a great inventory of beer on Tap. Very casual low brow hang with long tables and benches to sit down and meet a few locals.

Owned by the same guys who own the Wren next door. More of a local high brow scene. You are surrounded by warm wood ambiance with a contemporary groove. I love sitting at the bar and ordering from there. Probably my favorite place for food and ambiance.

A taste of India in Toronto's East end. From our home just walk through Monarch Park, through the path under the train track and then you are in little India. Amazing Indian restaurants just a short walk away.

Probably my favorite restaurant and the closest to our home. Owned by Ben Gundy who helped launched Toronto's infamous Jacob's Steakhouse and also runs Summerhills Oliffe Butcher Shop. My preferred seating is the bar where you can watch the creation of his amazing menu. Beautiful service and ambiance and outdoor patio seating. I strongly recommend the fries cooked in beef fat!

Amazing how many people miss visiting this incredible group of islands right in Toronto Harbour. You can easily get here via a Toronto Ferry or the many Toronto water taxis. On the islands you will find beautiful beaches, restaurants, bike and paddle board rentals and wonderful walking paths. Do not miss going here with your family.

Experience this 8.2-km out-and-back trail near our home. I often enjoy walking this trail early in the morning. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 29 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, paddle sports, and road biking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
