Sightseeing
The entrance to the GSMNP is about a 40 minute drive. This would be through Townsend, TN. Cades Cove Loop is a great scenic drive, with several small hikes along the way. Just be prepared to stop for bear sitings (and deer…). Cades Cove Visitor Center offers historical information, and restrooms, as well as a gift shop.
Want a easy, paved hike? Laurel Falls is also easily accessible through the Townsend entrance. It’s a 2.4 mile out and back hike, rated easy by All Trails.
If you are interested in longer hikes, we’d be happy to give you our favorites.
