Things to do Near Us
Outdoor Activities
Here are just a few things to do near us; Wildlife watching, deer and wild turkey are often in our yard. Hiking, fishing, ATVing, are all very popular here in the forest. Trails are less than 500 feet from us.
Tubing, kayaking, the clear springs over in the Branford area. 30 miles from us are over 30 crystal clear springs that are all within a 10 mile radius, perfect for swimming and kayaking and during hte winter, manatee can often be seen in them.
Visit Falling Creek, a beautiful area north of Lake City, about 20 miles from the house that has a small playground and a trail that leads to Falling Creek, where water-stained brown by surrounding tree roots, cascades down a riverbed, falling anywhere from 5 to ten feet, depending on the water level at the time.
The MUST NOT MISS place is about 30 miles away and has 6 miles of incredible spring fed river. Great for tubing or swim at the head spring.

It’s also known during the civil war as some union solders came to town demanding the ladies at the Blanche Hotel cook them dinner, but they said only if you leave your guns outside. While they were eating Lake City folks took their guns and threw them in the lake which was later proven when they drained the lake for cleaning and recovered the rifles.
