Drive all the way across the Mogollon Rim on Forest Service Road 300. I recommend going North on SR 87 for about 14 miles, then turn right onto Forest Road 300. This will put you on the west side of the Rim (note: the map is showing the east side entrance).
If you follow FR 300 driving east all the way it'll take you to the other side of the Rim. This will be about 2+ hours depending on how many stops you make so be sure to pack a picnic basket and plenty of drinks. If you want a shorter trip, just drive in for a few miles and then back out where you came from.
This is a dirt road but most small SUVs won't have any problems.
