Branca
111 Walton StGreat food right across from the flat. Italian/British.
Pierre Victoire was once part of a chain of the same name, and was then very similar to Cafe Rouge (a branch of which is nearby). But the chain went to the wall, and Oxford's Pierre Victoire is now an excellent independent restaurant with authentic French food at reasonable prices, and a warm atmosphere. Always worth asking for a table, but it's best to book.

Decent pizza and pasta, and the place works whether you want something reasonably quick or to linger. There's a good deal available on Monday nights.

A restaurant (more than a pub) that offers an excellent take on traditional British food. Pricier than some of the closer options, but worth the money and the walk for a nice meal. It's a handsome Victorian pub with well-kept beer - in the summer the patio's good for a pint, but as a destination this is a place for a meal rather than a cosy drink.

Excellent Chinese restaurant - you'll probably need to book to eat in, but they do take away.

This is a fantastic pub. The beer is great (ask for a recommendation), the fires are cosy, the clientele are friendly, and in the summer the garden is beautiful. It does excellent vegetarian food too.

Although this is a tied Green King pub, they do generally have a guest ale, and the upside is the friendly owners and the fantastic food. The Belgian-French chef has a varied menu with plenty of crepes, some good French dishes and what might be the best burger in Oxford.

Beautiful Victorian pub with great (Fuller's) beer; generally a quiet, relaxed place with a friendly hum of conversation and open fires. Sometimes some food - but this place is about beer and conversation.
