Skippers Canyon is a popular tourist area with rafting, jet boating and tour companies showing people the historic goldmining area of Skippers and Lord of the Rings locations.
This is one of the best jet boating experiences in the Queenstown area. We can highly recommend you take advantage of the discounted price we can offer you as we are only 5 minutes (10 minute walk) down to the jetty on the river.

As soon as you leave the Coronet Peak Road you will drive up into the carpark on the left of the Skippers Road lookout. The view from here is of the whole Wakatipu Basin and worth a stop to look.

20 minutes further up the Skippers Road you will cross the famous Skippers Bridge, opened in 1901. From here you will follow the zig zag road up to the area of Skippers Cemetary and School House, all that is left of the once bustling township of Skippers during the gold rush.
