I-Akaka Falls State Park

You can drive into the valley with a 4x4 vehicle (or walk it if you're fit!) and swim in the ocean (can be rough so you must know what you're doing) or jump in the river or just take a walk across the river along the black sand beach.

Saddle Road is a beautiful drive to the other side of the island. Other scenic drives include the Hamakua Coast Hwy and the Kohala Mountain Road which takes you to the quaint town of Hawi in Kohala.
