Parks & Nature
Right round the corner from our house is the iconic Arthur's Seat.
A lot to see on Arthur's Seat and from atop it!
You can easily hike to the top to take in some amazing views from all around - you can see for miles.
Hiking up also affords you opportunity to visit some ruins (St. Anthony's Chapel) and a number of Lochs.
St. Magaret's Loch is the closest one to us and sits right underneath the ruins.
Great for exploring and even better for the beautiful vantage points to view our fair city.
I love walking up here but it can be really windy at the top. Worth it though.

Sightseeing
If Arthur's Seat is too big - then make sure you walk up Calton Hill for views along Princes Street and beyond.
Great place to have photographs with some of Edinburgh's most iconic skyline - Nelson's Monument, Edinburgh Monument and the Observatory.
It's free unless you want to pay to climb Nelson's Monument (small museum, great fun and even greater views!)
Must see.
Be sure to catch a sunset from up here - the light across the city can be otherworldly.

The Royal Mile is one of our most famous streets.
You can't understand the beauty of this street unless you walk it. Be prepared to walk down many different alleyways...some lead you to secret gardens, or magical looking buildings, or secret wee pubs for locals to hidden streets below.
It isn't about having a destination when walking this street - it's all about wandering and investigating; something that Edinburgh is really special for.
