Absolutely hands down the best ice cream ever! The owner trained in Italy, and kept many of the recipes, ice is also available to take away and store at home! They also do a fabulous array of breakfasts and brunches, definitely worth spoiling yourself once and a while!

Brilliant hut for eating, drinking and Apres ski. Its not the cheapest but really worth it if you want to splash out and spoil yourself. Very chilled music, they also have a lot of events and an in house DJ.

The best "high quality" restaurant in the area, seriously very impressive. Absolutely not cheap, but well worth it if you have a special occasion. Its a bit of a drive from Altenmarkt (20 mins) Very fine, nobel cuisine using a mix of Austrian and European.

Lovely quaint mountain hut serving all the usual Austrian farmhouse specialities and has the absolute BEST Bauernkrapfen I have ever tasted! In the summer if you park on the Eben side, it is a wonderful gentle hike for children, circa 1 hour, with many model animals hiding in the forest to be discovered. For the adults, when you get to the Moosalm, definitely sample some of the home made cheese, and the famous Hazelnut Schnapps! Lovely views, and is open on fine weather in the summer until 8 or 9pm, when the last guest leaves really!

Parks & Nature
The most beautiful scenery. Even in the height of summer you can walk on a safe snow covered path and just enjoy the amazing scenery. There is also the Hanging Bridge and the Ice Palace to explore up there. Do take warm clothing, and as a special treat ask the lift personel if you can ride on the open top of the gondola bahn.......it will take your breath away! Do book a gondola ride from June to September though as it gets COMPLETELY sold out!

Incredible views, and a lovely circular hike which takes about 3 to 4 hours, is very easy. Starting and finishing at The Lodge just by the top of the lift station. You will walk through plateaus of stone, through to lush forests. Don't forget to go to the Five Fingers viewing platform, and see if you can spot the "shark" ! A great hike for kids who want to do a half days hike, do take plenty of sun cream and water though in high summer as there are no huts en route.
